KRISTINE BURNEKO ART

I have been painting since I could hold a paintbrush.  As I child, I first studied at the League of Reston Artists in Reston, Virginia with Lassie Corbett.  As I got older, I started training at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia taking classes in figure drawing, oil painting, cartooning, and acrylic painting.

I continued to create paintings and drawings through my teenage years, and eventually began designing tattoos, album covers, custom t-shirts, and painting commissioned portraits.  After college, I directed most of my artistic efforts to designing private practice websites and writing health science literature as I myself became a medical provider for almost 20 years.

Now, I have decided to focus on abstract painting and train at the Delaplaine Center for the Arts in Frederick, Maryland with Ed Ramsburg. I have exhibited at the TAG gallery and the Delaplaine gallery here in Maryland and participate regularly in art fairs and local vendor shows.  I also continue to do commissioned work, both abstract and representational.

The practice of painting has truly been a healing force and conduit of peace in my life.  My art work regularly illuminates corners of my soul that I have never visited before.

These paintings are also prayers, and as a professed Franciscan my hope is that they will actually be windows for you, providing you with similar illumination and self-discovery - and even invite you to transcendence.
